Onyx, CA. Mile 652

The wind was so strong that I nearly got blown down. Despite the wind; I got some stellar sunset pics.

Otherwise an uneventful night hike of 14 miles.

We were so tired that we overslept.  Got up to a cloudy and windy day.  It was quite cold,  I put on some extra layers and pushed on.

The flora is back to pines.  Oh how we welcome the shaded area.
Managed 24 miles today.  Rags is being a trooper despite sore paws. I think we both also felt an energy drain due to little sleep.

Due to the coolness we were able to day hike. The best part was setting up the tent in daylight and getting a continuous 7 hrs of sleep.

We awoke refreshed from our sleep on pine needles to hike another 24 miles.
The terrain turned back to desert and extremely strong gusts of wind.  We managed the 24 miles and hunkered down behind a bush for shelter.

We both are feeling tired and ready to get to Onyx, CA. Luckily it is only a 21 mile hike today.  We pushed and made it by 1600.

Of course the post office closes at 1600. We catch a lift with Leslie. A wonderful lady who agreed  to take me to a market in Onyx. Upon realizing that I intended to find a discreet place to camp until the post office was open.  She would have nothing of it.

Her mother made me dinner.  I showered, did laundry,  and was positively spoiled.  They loved on Ragnar, had me bathe him and doctor his feet. I'm so beyond blessed.  I got to eat chips and salsa while watching a movie.  Heaven! These angels are helping return my hope for humanity.
