Big Bear City, CA. Mile 266
This leg of journey is punctuated by desert changing to dry pine terrain. Sorry, don't know the technical terms.
The wind gusts, according to a trail angel, were 50 miles per hour. Multiple times I was almost blown over. Thank the gods for my trekking poles helping me stay upright.
We hunkered down for the night cowboy camping style. Decided that I did not want to hear the tent attempt to take flight all night. Our reward was a pink and purple sunset.
Fire. Forest fires. The land is so baren and scorched. I am deeply saddened by this sight. Scientists state that due to the increasing global warming that the once forests now burnt will never grow back with desert taking there place. For sources please contact Scott Munter :)
A couch! In the middle of nowhere. Ragnar says "don't mind if I do sit here. " There is a container next to the couch that boasts having soda, alas it lies. Very sad me.
We are so close to Big Bear City and Lake that we can see it. So hard to be so close, but know you have another day to get there.
