Mt Laguna, CA. Mile 41
The journey so far has been lovely. The desert really has a special essence to it.
Due to the heat we have had to alter our travel pattern. We get up at the crack of dawn and hike to 1100, take a break until 1600, resume hiking until we camp. Sometimes it is really hard to find shade and we hunker down under a tiny bush trying to cool off.
Occasionally we are blessed with a stream and trees to rest under.

Unfortunately Ragnar has gotten some hot spots from his pack. I am now having to carry all of his gear. I am thinking I will give him three days to heal. Carrying his water/gear is quite the extra load on me.
But we are blessed that his paws have held up fantastically. He spends all day pointing out all the wild life to me.
Once in Mt Laguna, my dearest friend Sally came to see me. It was a joyous reunion of childhood friends. She treated me to a lovely lunch and chauffeured me around town.
I picked up my first package and sent some gear ahead to Warner Springs in an attempt to lessen my load. In addition I have developed some right lateral knee pain :( I purchased some KT tape that I am hoping works.
The next 60 miles is supposed to have minimal water. This makes me a little nervous. We shall prevail.
