Getting Back On Trail

Hello my loved ones. I wanted to thank you all for the support of my journey.

Thank you to Tina and Cathy for sending me love through the mail as a care package. It really helps keep my spirit strong.

I'm making the journey back to Kennedy Meadows, being back on trail Friday the 30th. Starting my nightly satellite pings at that time.

For this leg of the journey I am joined by Cathy and will be leaving Ragnar behind. Bittersweet swap.

I start by flying from Portland,  OR to Sacremento, CA; Renting a car and driving to Don Pedro lake to stay at Cathy's rental house; then driving to Sonora, CA to pick up Cathy on the way to Mammoth Lakes, CA; drop off the rental car and take a bus to Bishop, CA to take another bus to Lone Pine, CA.

We stayed at Portagee Joe campground in Lone Pine. Then finished the journey to Kennedy Meadows with a ride from Kurt. Phew,  lots of details.

I'm nervous about the snow and river crossings,  but I'm told the beauty is worth every danger. We gave a ride to two hikers who made it through the Sierras. It is possible!

Attempting to channel Caballo Blanco from "Born to Run": “Think Easy, Light, Smooth, and Fast. You start with easy, because if that’s all you get, that’s not so bad. Then work on light. Make it effortless, like you don’t give a shit how high the hill is or how far you’ve got to go. When you’ve practiced that so long that you forget you’re practicing, you work on making it smooooooth. You won’t have to worry about the last one—you get those three, and you’ll be fast.”
