Truckee, CA. Mile 1157
Out of South Tahoe and around Echo and Aloha Lakes. It was a short mile day due to many errands that needed completing.
My foot began to hurt more, I'm hoping that it begins to feel better. One foot in front the other gets it done. Later on Ibuprofen really started to work. Yay!
I'm thankful to be back in the Wilderness. This is Brazilian Woodpecker enjoying a picturess view of Lake Tahoe.
This part of the journey feels mentally tough. A large part of me wants to quit. The novelty has worn off. It is down to perseverance. So, sometimes you rejuvenate yourself with a snow lemonade slushy and jelly beans.
What is also difficult, I'm accomplishing 26 mile days by 1800. Trying to not push my body too hard too fast, I camp early. I typically hike till dark so never have needed entertainment. Now I'm craving a book or anything.
The sunrise over Lake Tahoe. Worth every mile.
All over there are copious mountainsides covered in these yellow and purple flowers.
We make it into Truckee with completing another 26 mile day. Brazilian Woodpecker has friends who allow us to stay with them. Their house and family are lovely.

Of course I am thinking of a little book I sent you before you began this trek! I should have waited and sent it now. :)
