Etna, CA. Mile 1597
A 19 mile hill! You'd think I'd be used to hills by now. No matter what, towns these days always have a super downhill into them and a monstrous uphill getting out.
This stretch goes through Castle Crags State Park. I think the rock formations clearly illustrates the park's name.
Sunrises are my moment of bliss. I will get up at 0500 for them; and for those that know, I am NOT an early riser.
Perfect lunch at Porcupine Lake.
Making her own weather.
My lullaby to end a hard day of 31 miles.
Super smokey due to a fire near Etna, CA. But still able to see Mt. Shasta.
We passed an area with cows in the middle of nowhere. They had cow bells on. I felt transported back in time. Thought Maria might start singing that the hills are alive.
I'm going to attempt a row of 30 mile days as a means to see the lunar eclipse. Managed 2 days of 31 miles each and was on mile 20 of the 3rd day when a forest fire stopped me in my tracks. Was forced to go to Etna, CA. That grey band of sky is smoke.
I was supposed to be picked up in Seiad Valley, CA by Scott on Saturday. But with the fire I decided it was easiest to hitch a ride with a Blawesome who was driving to Cascade Locks. I get to spend a day at Home, watch the eclipse, and then be dropped off in Seiad Valley. Ragnar is joining me!
