White Pass, WA. Mile 2292
Heading North through Mt Adams and the Goat Rocks Wilderness areas. Beautiful sunsets always soothe my soul.
The Northern end of the Indian Heaven Wilderness Fire. The next fire closure awaits for us at White Pass.
Encountered this sign as commemoration of some friendly compromises. This area is known for being prolific with huckleberries. Spent most of the day pausing and enjoying the delightful snack.
Elk Hunters! We were fortunate enough to hear them bugle. So cool. Ragnar was very confused.
This tree was selected for genetics and requested protection. Obvious conclusion is to shoot the tree.
Ragnar's pack has continued to give him abrasions. I am attempting different methods of bandaging him so that he is protected. He is being so patient.
There are multiple burn areas around Mt Adams, but I have heard (and witnessed) that this is the best place for huckleberries to grow.
Mt Adams shrouded in clouds.
A little sunshine at lunch always warms your spirits. That white bit in the corner is Ragnar sunning himself. What a Diva!
Mt Adams from a distance. Rain falling on her side.
At Sheep Lake Scott joined us for camping and a 26 mile hike to White Pass. It was so good to see him.
Snow fields are still present in the Goat Rocks.
This is Perk as he passes by the trail demolition experts. They are widening the trail for easier equestrian passage. We passed and from a safe distance we watched the explosion. The sounds echo around the valley creating such an impressive sound.
You can see the trail go on for miles.
Ragnar leads the way up this crest. Whew, up we go.
Beautiful vegetation that is hidden in rock nooks.
If you look carefully, you can barely see the top of Mt Rainier. She was in hiding.
Perk demonstrating how steep the side of the mountain is. Or should I say, "how metal the mountain is."
Hortitorture! Moss in it's green glory.
Scott on the final decent to White Pass. It was quite chilly. Having him along for this section was so wonderful. I was getting nervous he would not hike any of the trail with me.
